Government-led Committee Reviews Options

A Government-led committee to review the future of the Horse Tram service has been established by Mr Phil Gawne MHK (Minister for Infrastructure) comprising representatives from the key stakeholders: the Isle of Man Government (Infrastructure, Tourism and Treasury), Isle of Man Railways, Manx National Heritage, Douglas Borough Council and Culture Vannin. We believe a number of Island-based heritage groups have submitted their views, including ourselves. We remain hopeful that a 2016 summer-season service can be operated on the existing Horse Tramway tracks and that the 140th anniversary can properly be celebrated on 7th August with operating trams.
